Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman’s loyal commitment to canvas skate shoes became the starting point of the collaboration between the LA based brand and Italian Diemme.

–  I have been friendly with the Diemme team for some time, as they are supportive of the brand and clients as well. We have always talked about doing something together. I wear canvas skate shoes almost every day and always end up in them, no matter how many boots or other styles I buy.

The collab will feature a series of light-weight hiking boots with The Elder Statesman’s well-known casual, yet colourful approach.

–  One day I asked if the Diemme guys could make their boots in canvas with flat laces and a couple tweaks. They said yes and it just kind of happened! I never set out to make shoes. The lightweight style, colors, laces — everything ended up feeling very in line with what The Elder Statesman does. Diemme really nailed it.

The boot, named “The Elder Vet” will be produced in four different colourways: white, navy, black and of course tie-dye. The upper is made from a breathable Italian canvas placed atop a white Vibram Christy sole, composed of an EVA compound to take out some of the weight.

The black and white version will be launched late 2018, and the tie-dye and navy will drop during early 2019. They will be produced in a limited and sold through Diemmes webshop, The Elder statesman, Matches, Ron Herman and The Webster.
